What To Do When You Are Feeling Unmotivated
Being unmotivated at work can be frustrating and can even put you at risk of losing your job if you don’t handle it properly. It’s normal to feel unmotivated, but it’s important to overcome your lack of drive and get back to the passion you once had. Here are three tips to help you rediscover your passion.
Visualize the long-term outcomes: Motivation can easily come back to you when you think about the bigger picture behind an idea. Don’t dwell on the negatives; remind yourself what you are good at, what you’ve done well to get to this point, and why you are doing what you’re doing.
Set SMART Goals: Your long-term goals should get you excited; if they don’t then revise them as needed. Set specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based (SMART) goals that will help keep you engaged and push you out of your comfort zone, without being too hard to reach.
Work with your body, not against it: It can be physically demanding standing in the stores for hours on end, trying to go up to people and sell. If you need a break, go for a walk and shake out the muscles or sit down for a minute or two. The idea is to make the customers feel comfortable, and if you aren’t even comfortable that task will be impossible. Gather yourself and then get right back to it!
